DAY 1: LIMA - TRUJILLO
Meet and Greet upon arrival to Airport in Trujillo, and Transfer to Hotel Libertador Plaza Mayor. Balance of day free to relax, shop, and explore charming city streets on your won, or take advantage of an optional sightseeing tour.
DAY 2: TRUJILLO CITY TOUR - HUANCHACO - CHAN CHAN
City tour of this rich Spanish colonial treasure founded in 1534 including its impressive Archaeological Museum highlighting the region's pre-Columbian cultures. Visit Trujillo's historical center, its centuries old aristocratic houses with their exquisite gates, convents and churches, squares and streets which are witness to its elegant past. Enjoy Lunch in the picturesque village of Huanchaco with beautiful water views and colorful totora reed boats. Afternoon, visit impressive citadel of Chan-Chan, largest pre-Columbian city built entirely of adobe bricks and magnificent ancient capital of the 13th century Chimu Empire, the bellicose people who ruled northern Peru before their conquest by the Inkas. DAY 3: TRUJILLO - CHICLAYO - LIMA
Morning departure for Chiclayo, charming city of Spanish colonial architecture, modern university and scores of unique bicycle taxis. Upon arrival, tour the world famous Bruning Archaeological Museum containing a superb collection of Moche cultural treasures. Enjoy more than 1500 pieces from several cultures, including a particularly priceless collection of Chimu and Vicus textiles and ceramics, hundreds of gold objects kept in a shielded chamber, copper funerary masks, ceremonial vases, an exquisite necklace and other jewels of the ancient Mochica and Chimu cultures. Lunch in a charming countryside restaurant is followed by a visit to the "Lord of Sipan" dating to the 3rd to 5th centuries. This extraordinary untouched tomb containing the remains of a high Mochican priest-warrior was discovered in 1987 together with ornaments, headdresses, emblems, gold, silver and copper attires inlaid with turquoise, lapiz-lazuli, and shells from northern Ecuador. Late afternoon, Transfer to Airport in Chiclayo for return flight to Lima or next destination. B, L
