Day 1 HOME CITY - SALVADOR DA BAHIA Meet and Greet upon arrival to the Airport, and Transfer to Hotel Vila Gale. Balance of day free to enjoy the beach, relax poolside, shop or or explore on your own.
Day 2 SALVADOR DA BAHIA - CITY TOUR Breakfast at leisure. Then depart for comprehensive City Tour of marvellous Salvador da Bahia founded by the Portuguese in 1549. The city's full name is São Salvador da Baía de Todos os Santos, or in English, "Holy Savior of All Saints' Bay". By 1583, there were 1,600 people residing in the city, and it quickly grew into one of the largest cities in the New World, surpassing any colonial American city at the time of the American Revolution in 1776. Tour nearby neighborhoods, Rio Vermelho, Barra, Vitoria and drive its coastal roads admiring its beautiful beaches. Then enjoy exciting walking tour through its extraordinary historical center, the "Pelourinho", the largest example of Baroque architecture in the America's, declared a UNESCO Cultural Heritage site. Visit the renowned golden Church of San Francisco, pass by historical buildings and museums, until reaching the infamous "Largo de Pelourinho", where African slaves were once publicly punished during colonial times. Enter historic church, Igreja da Nossa Senhora do Rosario dos Pretos, built by the slaves for themselves to hear the rich history of the city. Tour continues to the Palacio Rio Branco to admire panoramic views of the Cidade Baixa and the Baia de Todos Santos. Descend the hillside on the Elevator Lacerda connecting the "Upper Town" and the "Lower Town" since 1873, and enter local hand craft market, Mercado Modelo, old slave trade market to shop for souvenirs, local handicraft, and enjoy capoeira presentations. Then continue to Ribeira area for delicious lunch, and enjoy beautiful beach views, tanned sunbathers, and fun people watching. Following lunch, continue to Church of Bomfim, its rich tradition of Afro-Brazilian culture and mix of Catholicism, Candomble and other African derived religions, before returning to hotel. B,L
Day 3 SALVADOR DA BAHIA Breakfast at leisure. Day free to enjoy the beach, relax poolside, shop, stroll and explore the city streets on your own. Or perhaps enjoy an optional evening tour. B
Day 4 SALVADOR DA BAHIA - HOME CITY Breakfast at leisure. Then at scheduled hour, Transfer to Airport for flight homeward or to next destination. B
